The lighting looks good but this photo is over-processed (too much skin smoothing and the eyes looks too fake).

Also, the way the model is separated from the background screams photoshopped (especially around the ears and hair area).

Depends if you are trying for an almost CGI stylised appearance, it works.

Bingo.

Good Beauty/Fashion Photographers retain detail, skin pours, and more, thats one of the many keys to a good beauty shot, detail.

Smoothing, blending and blurring is a bad option in my eyes!

It was a look the model wanted for her portfolio, with the retouching.

Everything is a little too flat for me :( Maybe it's the PP that's been requested by the model but the skin is flat and the lighting is also flat... maybe exaggerated by the PP :?

It looks as though the hair has a fair amount of fringing (magenta on one side, green or cyan on the other) If it's not just the jpeg compression I'd say the background was way too hot when exposed.

I must say... i never lit this image so flat,.

There was the Beauty dish above, with the softbox below.. but it was never this flat

Glen I feel that this is way to much photoshopping for the image..

cheers

Russell

yea I totally see this style the over processed skin, where it looks painted on and blurred, but it appears a lot of what I call the Glamour Models here on the Coast seem to love this style, not my taste at all and I totally wont even do this for them if they wanted it, but its a style I see used quite a lot with glamour photographers. Totally different to fashion photographers where the skin detail is preserved via non-destructive retouching techniques like the dodge and burn. It is a more time consuming retouching process but the results speak for themselves.

Looks like you had a nice lighting set up but the pp just washed it out. But keep at it, you are improving each time

Sorry eyecandy for offending you, was only trying to put a positive spin on comments. Obviously it did not go down well with you in the PMing. Likewise I'd prefer you not contact me either privately

If that's what the client wants, shouldn't that be what the client gets?

This style may appeal to some people, to me it does not.
